Copernicus Center Lab (CCL)
Activities of the Copernicus Center Lab (CCL) focus on interdisciplinary scientific research, popularization and dissemination of science, providing expertise, and networking. All these activities relate to the domains of the „Society of the Future” Priority Research Area, namely: human being and society in the face of new technologies; human being and society in the conditions of contemporary changes, challenges and environmental instability; as well as neural, cognitive and social determinants of human and social functioning.
CCL’s research and expert activities are now focused on two main fields:
- abstract thinking and education (e.g., mathematical competencies and their neurocognitive foundations, especially in the face of contemporary educational challenges, new technologies and social instability);
- metascience, or the science of science (e.g., replicability of results, interdisciplinarity as an opportunity and a challenge for science, open science in facilitating scientific progress, interactions between philosophy of science and empirical studies on science).
Studies in these fields will be carried out by two research teams. These teams will also develop a long-term strategy, facilitating research activities in international cooperation and interactions with the social and economic environment.
CCL’s activities in the field of popularization and dissemination of science involve:
- organizing meetings, lectures, and conferences;
- publishing popular science contents in digital formats;
- supporting organization of Copernicus Festival;
- supporting development of the Copernicus College—the first Polish MOOC.
In all these activities CCL collaborates intensively with many academic institutions and socio-economic environment. CCL remains open to all initiatives and ideas related to „Society of the Future” Priority Research Area.
