Global Trends Lab (GTL)

The main research interests of Global Trends Lab include factors influencing the future of democracy and political models of contemporary world, evolution of international order and new balance of forces in international relations, as well as the impact of innovations and new technologies on politics, security and international relations.

Taking into account the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has on political processes, international relations and security, Global Trends Lab will prioritise interdisciplinary research about the influence of pandemic on the change of scientific paradigms, as well as the most important phenomenons and factors in this regard, which have the potential to significantly contribute to the development of scientific research in social sciences.

An event in the series of weekly seminars

On October 20, 2020 the second seminar of the Global Tuesday series was organized by the Global Trends Lab in cooperation with the Popularisation Gate as part of the Strategic Program Excellence Initiative at the Jagiellonian University.

 

The aim of the Global Tuesdays project is to promote research on pivotal aspects related to international relations, political science and security studies and increase its impact in the society and among partners from the socio-economic environment.

 

The topic of the second seminar was “internal security system in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic”. The panelists included scholars from the Institute of Political Science and International Relations of the Jagiellonian University: Associate Professors Monika Ślufińska, PhD, and Bogdan Kosowski, PhD and Assistant Lecturer Arkadiusz Nyzio, PhD. The panel was moderated by Piotr Bajor, PhD - Associate Professor in the Institute of Political Science and International Relations of the JU and head of the Global Trends Lab.
